Who We Are

Mission & Overview

The Texas Coalition of Rural Landowners (TCRL) is a non-membership 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, managed by a Board of Directors and founded on April 30, 2021. TCRL is dedicated to providing services to producers across Texas who face challenges in maintaining their land in a profitable and sustainable manner.

TCRL works collaboratively with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other nonprofit partners to implement outcome-based programs that support rural landowners. Retired agricultural professionals from the USDA, Extension services, industry, and production agriculture serve as mentors and subject matter experts, assisting TCRL in delivering effective programs. By leveraging its knowledge and relationships with both governmental and private organizations, TCRL conducts outcome-focused programming in all areas of landownership.

Overarching Goals

TCRL’s work is guided by the following objectives:

  1. On-Farm Training: Develop unique and effective training programs that provide information, skills, and awareness in a culturally relevant context.

  2. Community Building: Assist rural landowners in building strong, resilient communities.

  3. Sustainable Food Systems: Build an equitable and sustainable food system that benefits underserved rural landowners by educating them in agriculture, agribusiness, and legal aspects of land ownership.

  4. Scientific Agriculture Education: Promote an appreciation for scientific agriculture, helping landowners acquire knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes toward landownership. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. From case managers to outreach workers, we work together to provide comprehensive support to our clients.
